SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

In 2003, the people of our community trusted and elected me to represent them on the Cedar Falls City Council. I loved serving my hometown; it was the most creative work I had ever done, and I learned a great deal.  I developed an appreciation for the incredible work of local governments that makes our daily lives possible and our community function.  I served for two terms before focusing my attention on the last years of my professional life.  Now, as I retire at the end of 2024, I am excited to serve the broader community as your next County Supervisor.

DEDICATED TO OUR COMMUNITY

Whether serving on Cedar Falls City Council (2003-2011),  or rolling up his sleeves to promote locally grown and harvested foods, Kamyar has demonstrated time & time again that he is dedicated to the Cedar Valley.

  • Promoted Farmers Markets & support for locally grown foods

  • Worked to enable institutional food buyers of our regional produce & goods

  • Launched  programs for improving access to fresh vegetables among vulnerable populations of our county

  • Helped Iowa communities do better floodplain protection planning to reduce damage from floods of the future

  • Been actively involved in renewing a culture of backyard vegetable gardening in our County
